I haven’t updated in a few days, I have a bunch of scheduled reviews waiting in the wings but nothing immediate to post in terms of reviews. I was in a car accident a few days ago and it’s really shaken me up and I haven’t been able to do much except negotiate with my insurance company and try to stop myself banging my head against the wall.
Have had a bit of a run of crappy ARCs lately and I have been mulling over whether to post reviews of them or not. I think it’s really important to be honest when being given the privilege to get ARCs but I feel bad about being negative. I know some might say to DNF books I don’t enjoy, but if someone has provided me with something I’ve requested for free, then I think it’s only right that I have to read it. I try to be careful when requesting to only request books I think I’ll enjoy but I still get caught out sometimes.
I know some people have a policy of only posting positive reviews on their blog, but I don’t live my life that way so I’m not going to blog that way. Years of experience as a Teacher and in Management Consultancy and Employee Development has made me realise just how much people stifle their own ability to grow and develop by censoring anything remotely uncomfortable from their lives. I don’t think it’s helpful in the long term and makes people less resilient but, that’s an argument for another day.
I won The Wicked King on a Twitter giveaway and I’m loving it so far! I wasn’t as enamoured by The Cruel Prince as some people were, but I’m much more into this one. Somehow managed to avoid spoilers too which is a huge relief.
Hello also to my new followers! The lovely Evelina featured me on her blog this month which was great. She really does so much for the book blogging community so I was honoured to be mentioned!
